Our Housekeeping Team helps create a lasting impression of our hospital to patients and visitors!

 

Our housekeeping staff are a crucial part of ensuring each and every patient is provided a clean, quiet, and calming environment. Mercy housekeepers regularly interact with our patients, visitors, and coworkers in a warm and friendly manner. This team maintains the appearance and sanitation of all areas of Mercy Hospital Washington including, but not limited to patient rooms, diagnostic testing rooms, waiting areas, staff areas, examination rooms and operating rooms in accordance with infection control regulations. The team is also responsible for disposing of trash, recyclables, and medical waste according to policies and procedures.

 

The Housekeeping Supervisor will - 

  • Develop work shift schedules and assignments and delegate tasks as appropriate
  • Monitor our hospital for cleanliness as well as perform quality checks as needed.
  • Respond to requests from all departments for cleaning, set up, moving furniture, etc.  as well as assist with coordination of special events/functions.
  • Take on work assignment during times of low staffing/high census and leads the team on project work as needed.
  • Participate/coordinate educational classes, workouts, in-service and other meetings involving the housekeeping department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is required for this leadership role

  • Experience: Working knowledge of cleaning procedures in a health care setting.

  • Other:

    • Strong ability to work with and supervise a diverse group of people.
    • Ability to give constructive criticism.
    • Organized, self-motivated and has the ability to communicate directions in a clear, concise manner.
    • Serves as a resource person and liason for the department.

     

  • Preferred Experience: Previous work in a leadership role with healthcare or hospitality is preferred.
